A South Korean idol rock band, FT Island, short for Five Treasure Island, was the first group to debut under FNC Entertainment (FNC Music at the time) in 2007. The original lineup comprised Jonghun, Hongki, Jaejin, Wonbin and Minhwan; Seunghyun was added in after Wonbin left at the beginning of 2009 for "musical differences".

They became the Power Rookies of 2007, winning a lot of awards for their song "Lovesick" including their first music show win after a mere 53 days. They also made their indie debut in Japan in 2008 before making their major debut in 2010. There, too, they have also found good success, with their singles charting high constantly and getting sold out Japanese concerts and tours.

They have also branched out into other areas such as musicals and acting, with Hongki in particular being an active idol actor. Additionally, the subunit FT Triple — comprising Jaejin, Minhwan and Jonghun — formed in 2008 and officially promoted in 2009 with "Love Letter". Seunghyun is also in a subunit

F.T. Island, also known as Five Treasure Island, is a five-member South Korean rock band formed by FNC Entertainment in 2007

F.T. Island debuted in Korea on June 7, 2007, with the song, "Love Sick" on the music television program, M! Countdown. The band's Korean debut was successful; their debut album, titled Cheerful Sensibility was the sixth best-selling album in 2007. Their debut song "Lovesick" topped the K-Pop charts for eight consecutive weeks. Moreover, they also won the Best New Male Group in theMnet Asian Music Awards and the Popularity and Newcomer Awards in the Golden Disk Awards in 2007.

The band then debuted in Japan a year later, on June 8, 2008, with the EP, Prologue of F.T. Island: Soyogi. However, it was met with limited success - it peaked at the 95th position in the Japanese charts and experienced sluggish album sales. It was not only until their third Japanese studio album,Five Treasure Island with the title track "Flower Rock", which made them as successful artists in Japan. Lee Hong-gi (Korean: 이홍기; born March 2, 1990), also known mononymously as Hongki, is a South Korean singer, actor, and media personality. He is best known as the front man of rock band F.T. Island. In 2015, Lee debuted as a solo artist with the releases of his first Korean extended play FM302 and his first Japanese album, AM302. As an actor, Lee started his career by starring in children drama Magic Kid Masuri (2002). He later successfully transitioned to adult role and participated in various television dramas, notably You're Beautiful (2009) and A Korean Odyssey (2017). He started a YouTube career by launching personal channel Honggi Jonggi in April 2022.
