Biography
Charles (Chuck) Torelli has lived in Kennewick since 1985. His three children were all raised in Kennewick as were three (out of ten) of his grandchildren. He is married to Beverly Johnson-Torelli who retired from the Kennewick School District as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources.
Chuck retired from Hanford in 2011 after a thirty-four-year career. Thirty-one years were spent at the Plutonium Finishing Plant in capacities ranging from Plant Engineer to decommissioning Superintendent.
Service – Chuck was appointed to the Kennewick City Council in 2019. He replaced Council Member Matt Boehnke who was elected to the Washington State Legislature. Chuck was then elected to the Kennewick City Council November of 2019. Chuck served on Kennewick City Planning Commission since 2017. He also serves on the board of the Benton-Franklin League of Women Voters, is a member of the East Benton County History Museum and Historical Society and was a past board member of the SHAKE (provides school supplies for local school districts).

Giuseppe Torelli and the birth of the Violin Concerto
Giuseppe Torelli (1658-1709), a violinist and composer famous all over Europe during his lifetime, has not received much attention in today's concert programs and academic environments. This research has a twofold intention: reconstruct the life of Torelli and investigate the origins of a genre of which he is considered to be the father, the soloistic concerto. As a case of study, an in-depth analysis is been drawn of one violin concerto, which has a debated authorship nowadays, poised between Torelli and Vivaldi. The results are presented in three chapters: the first one contains the biography; in the second one it is outlined how Torelli redefined the form of the pre-existing Concerto Grosso, thanks to the activity of his predecessors and to the peculiar context in which he was active. This process resulted in the arise of the concerto for solo instrument, which already presented all the characteristics that made this musical form so popular and successful amongst his contemporaries and the following generations. Giacomo Torelli (1 September 1608 – 17 June 1678) was an Italian stage designer, scenery painter, engineer, and architect.[1] His work in stage design, particularly his designs of machinery for creating spectacular scenery changes and other special effects, was extensively engraved and hence survives as the most complete record of mid-seventeenth-century set design.
