Kenneth W. Hunzeker

United States Army general

Kenneth W. Hunzeker (born 1952, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is a retired officer in the United States Army who attained the rank of lieutenant general. He was commissioned from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point, New York, in 1975. He retired from active service in 2010, after 35 years.[1]

Biography

Hunzeker was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 26, 1952. He entered the USMA in July 1971 from the USMA Preparatory School in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, as an enlisted soldier. He graduated West Point as a second lieutenant in the Field Artillery branch in 1975 and served as a forward observer, a fire direction officer, a battery executive officer and a brigade fire support officer.[2] Following attendance at the Field Artillery Advanced Course at Fort Sill, he commanded at the battery level and also served as a battalion operations officer. Kenneth W. Hunzeker (* 26. August1952 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania) ist ein pensionierter Generalleutnant der United States Army. Er war unter anderem Kommandeur der 1. Infanteriedivision und des V. Korps.

In den Jahren 1971 bis 1975 durchlief er die United States Military Academy in West Point. Nach seiner Graduation wurde er als Leutnant der Feldartillerie zugeteilt. In der Armee durchlief er anschließend alle Offiziersränge vom Leutnant bis zum Drei-Sterne-General.

In seinen jüngeren Jahren absolvierte er den für Offiziere in den niederen Rangstufen üblichen Dienst in verschiedenen Einheiten und Standorten. Dazu gehörten auch Aufgaben als Stabsoffizier in verschiedenen Hauptquartieren. Im Verlauf seiner weiteren Karriere kommandierte er militärische Einheiten auf fast allen Ebenen bis hin zum Korpskommandeur.
