Who Is Wesley Snipes?

Wesley Snipes made his film debut in Wildcats in 1986 and was cast in Mo' Better Blues in 1990. In 1991, Snipes took the leading role in Lee's Jungle Fever and also played one of his most memorable characters — stylish crime lord Nino Brown in New Jack City. In 2008, Snipes was sentenced to a maximum of 3 years in prison on tax evasion charges, an event that has colored his career since.

Wesley Trent Snipes was born on July 31, 1962, in Orlando, Florida. Raised with his three sisters in the South Bronx by his grandmother and mother, Snipes attended the High School for the Performing Arts in New York City.

After attending the State University of New York at Purchase, he pursued his acting career in earnest.

Wesley Trent Snipes (born July 31, 1962) is an American actor. In a film career spanning more than thirty years, Snipes has appeared in a variety of genres, such as numerous thrillers, dramatic feature films, and comedies, though he is best known for his action films.[2] He was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male for his work in The Waterdance (1992) and won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his performance in the film One Night Stand (1997).

Wesley Trent Snipes was born in Orlando, Florida, to Marian (Long), a teacher's assistant, and SMSGT Wesley Rudolph Snipes, an aircraft engineer. He grew up on the streets of the South Bronx in New York City, where he very early decided that dance and the theatre were to be his career. He attended the High School for the Performing Arts (popularized in Fame (1980)). But dreams of the musical theater (and maybe a few commercials) faded when his mother moved to Orlando, Florida before he could graduate. Rugerio, would start a bus-n-truck theatre company (Struttin Street Stuff) be instrumental in his high schools (Jones High) induction into the International Thespian Society, Orlando Chapter and help lay the foundation for what would become Dr. Phillips High Schools theatre arts program.
